Magic City Hall
By: Cuz’n Jake

On top of the hill sits Magic City Hall
There’s a hundred politicians and they all get along
Right wings, Left wings flying in the air
Like the little Superheroes that remodeled Fountain Square

Cranley, Crowley can’t keep’em straight
Roxanne Qualls, weren’t you already replaced?

Eby and Patton, maybe it’s your turn
And 5th time’s a charm Mr. Charlie Winburn

If you want to win Mr. Chris Monzel
You better shave your head like Jim Tarbell

Zamary and Pavelish, Painter and Bortz
You’re in ‘cause you all look good in shorts

L a k e t a C o l e , J e f f r e , B e r d i n g , B a t e s a n d C o o p e r
W i l l y o u c l e a n u p t h e c i t y w i t h a g i a n t P o o p e r S c o o p e r ?

Sam Malone, weren’t you on Cheers?
I sure hope so cause I like drinking beers.

Thomas and Young, if you’re in without a hitch
Will you PLEASE teach Mayor Mallory how to pitch

Harris and Harper and Fischer and Ghiz
Don’t forget to vote, whenever THAT is

If you run for Magic City Hall
Don’t you worry ‘bout a thing this fall

Amy- You know, I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're so right. They're even kinda like the three of us Noelle Yep, these are all from my feilds two of the less successful ones, sadly. They are good to munch, though; the kids are always bringing ears back to the galle to roast (i.e., char) on coals.Left by clare on October 5th, 2005

What a cutie Zoe is! I just now realized you're the woman who acatlluy designed the nursery that has inspired me to re-accessorize mine (I acatlluy saw it in the chic&cheapnurseries blog)! Your taste is delightful! Thanks!!!

The only way for firefighters to keep from getintg bed bugs is to make sure everyone gets rid of their bed bug infestations. There is a Cincinnati/Hamilton County Joint Bed Bug Task Force Strategic Plan in the works, which we hope will be making things better in the area soon. New York vs. Bed Bugs will be discussing it soonish.

Full Speed Ahead to Rabbit Hash!

Got CD's of your recording from Christmas show 12/21 at Rabbit Hash. While as there are some minor recording flaws from crowd bumpings and some regrets that my recorder only holds so many songs..all in all...I think you'll be pleased with it. I can leave copies for you at General Store or email me at bookcore@msn.com with a mailing address and I'll send out some for the band. Thanks, great show!......GREG/ Rabbit Hash

Recently moved to Seattle after having spent most of my 24 years in Cincinnati...on my 25th birthday Nov 29th, I heard you perfrom on Prairie Home Companion...Queen City Rag...and it absolutely MADE my day! Really, brought laughter and tears (of joy) to my eyes. I'd been hearing good things about the band for awhile and it was absolutely perfect timing. You're one of the best things happening in Cincinnati. Over the Rhine (band) is the absolute best thing, but hey, you opened for them! You guys make me proud of my city and so nostalgic! Can't wait to see you live on Saturday at Arnolds. Keep Cincy strong.

Heard you on Prairie Home, downloaded the album, having a lot of fun with it. My 14-year-old son also enjoys it... guess you're "Dad Rock" now! Oops I mean "Dad bluegrass oldtimey folk".
Keep on pickin'

Lexington, NC 27292

Hello,

My name is, H. C. Chrest. I am a free-lance music critic currently supplying reviews for “The Audiophile Voice” magazine. I am constantly in the search for cd releases that I would consider worthy of review. I specialize in several musical categories including: traditional bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, new acoustic, progressive bluegrass, folk, and related re-issues of works of historical importance.

Previously, I have been on the writing staffs of Bluegrass Unlimited (3) years, Bluegrass Now (2) years, Precious Memories (2) years, and Acoustic Musician (3) years. Due to this related experience, I feel that I can listen objectively and impartially to your project.

Recently, the Editor of The Audiophile Voice and former 20 year Editor of Audio commented about my reviews, "Frankly, I think that your writing and your judgments in the musical areas you cover are as good as I've ever seen in the genre, as good as Benjamin Ivry's are over there in classical. It is clear to me from your writing AND your choices that you do love the music and get a very large amount of "happy" sharing the good stuff."

Please note that I refuse all remuneration for my reviews. My sole aim is to let readers become aquainted with these genres. Also, review space is limited and the competition is very intense so if your work is not selected the first time, do not think that it was lacking, just continue to send your latest releases. I will let you know

If you would like for your project to be considered for possible submission, please rush it to my attention. I will personally listen to all CD’s and consider them for possible review. Please include any tear sheets and/or promo packets. This material can make the review more informative and interesting. Also, please feel free to add my name to you permanent mailing list for any future releases.

If you have received a previous request and have not submitted your work, consider this a reminder. If you have previously submited a cd please disregard this request
Thank you and best wishes,
H. C. Chrest
Music Critic
Submission Guidelines:
1. Submissions become the property of the reviewer and will not be returned without prior agreement.
2. Please do not submit recordings on cassette tapes.
3. Please include appropriate press information, photos and current contact information.
4. Reviewer will not review material that is at my discretion offensive, or that is derogatory to race, sex, creed, color, religion or national origin.

If there's anyone who could be called the "Woody Guthrie of Cincinnati," it's folksinger Jake Speed. Speed is again making moves that would do Woody proud. Speed's "songitorials" are weekly songs about current events. Think of it as a singing editorial with a healthy dose of wit and humanity. Each week, Speed will unveil a new song, dealing with different social issues of the day in much the way Guthrie's "Woody Sez" column once did.
