Speedy Delivery: A Weekly Song EditorialBook of JudasClick to Listen Notes: My wife gave me the idea for this song after she learned that the “newly” discovered Book of Judas revealed untold secrets about Jesus’ final days. Since I enjoy the stretching of the truth, I thought I’d capitalize on such a find by speculating on what I think might be found in the fine print of Judas’ book. My wife suspects that this song will mark the end of my run as the top seller in the Christian community, but you never know. If you can’t have a sense of humor, what are you left with but the truth. Book of Judas By: Jake Speed 4/9/06 I read the Book of Judas I thumbed it through and through I read the Book of Judas Is it really true? I showed it to the preacher He screamed, “Oh my word” I showed it to the Pope, he Said, “this is gonna hurt” In the book of Judas, the truth is unearthed Jesus tells Judas ‘bout his manger birth He wasn’t born in no barn, he’s Lord for Christ’s sake it was a Trump-sized hotel, that’s what Judas’s book states In the book of Judas, the truth is released The evolution question may finally rest in peace Judas says Jesus believed in Adam and Eve Adam was a monkey, Eve – a chimpanzee In the book of Judas, the truth is confessed Jesus says to Judas, marriage is a test No matter if you’re gay, no matter if you’re straight Just ask Mary Magdalene, we suffer all the same In the book of Judas, the truth is unveiled Jesus tells Judas love your neighbor well Love him even if he gave you up for Lent Love him even if he votes Republican I read the Book of Judas It came as a surprise I read the Book of Judas The preacher says it lies He said, The Bible is the truth Each word of it is law All except the parts of it That don’t make sense at all

Speed is again making moves that would do Woody proud. Speed's "songitorials" are weekly songs about current events. Think of it as a singing editorial with a healthy dose of wit and humanity. Each week, Speed will unveil a new song, dealing with different social issues of the day in much the way Guthrie's "Woody Sez" column once did. by Mike Breen, Citybeat |
